Use these protections to make sure certain people never hear from you. There are three, and each one blocks something different. Not a fit is different again. It is a decision about one person’s fit, it stops their campaigns, and Recover undoes it.

What each one blocks

Nobody on a company or person list gets a message from any campaign or sender. Sources also don’t add new people at a company on the list. Messages that already went out can’t be taken back.

The Replied reason

We add people with the reason Replied when they answer a campaign. It stops their remaining campaign messages. It doesn’t stop you replying in Inbox or engaging with their posts. All other reasons block replies as well.

Add one person

1

Open the person

Open them in People and choose Do not contact in the ⋯ menu.
2

Confirm

No campaign will write to them again, and any running steps stop. You see On Do not contact on their panel and page.
The list works by LinkedIn link. If a person has none, you see No LinkedIn link on this person and the button is greyed out. If you know their profile, add it in Settings. Otherwise add their company. A person on the list has no Add to campaign button.

Add people, companies or domains in Settings

Open Settings, then Do not contact. It has the tabs People, Companies and Domains.
1

Choose Add

Choose Add for one entry, or Import CSV for many, up to 5,000 rows and 2 MB per file.
2

Say what you are adding

  • Person: paste their LinkedIn profile, such as linkedin.com/in/jane-doe.
  • Company: give a Company name, a Domain, or both.
  • Domain: everyone at that domain is left alone, including subdomains.
3

Say why

Pick a reason under Why, then choose Add.
Give a company’s domain as well as its name when you know it. A person’s On Do not contact mark reads their company domain, so a name alone may not show on their row.
To upload customers and open deals, use Upload on the Customers row. We then never message them or look for people there.

Who can do what

Do not contact works together with campaigns, so it needs a paid plan (Software or Custom). See Plans.

People we add for you

The Added for you row covers people who say they aren’t interested or ask you to stop. We also add their colleagues once someone at the company replies. This always applies. To let us message someone again, remove them from the list.

Remove someone from the list

Open Settings, then Do not contact. Find the entry, and choose Remove in its ⋯ menu. You get an Undo right after.
If a person asked you to stop, removing them lets your campaigns message them again. Only do this if they told you it’s fine.
Removing doesn’t restart anything that stopped. To contact them again, add them to a campaign.

Own-team protection

We don’t start outreach to your own people. Someone counts as your own team when any of these match:
  • Their company domain matches your Company domain. If you haven’t set one, we use the domain of the workspace owner’s login email, unless it’s a free webmail address.
  • Their company domain matches one of your Team domains, such as a partner or investor.
  • Their LinkedIn profile is one of your workspace’s connected LinkedIn accounts.
Set both domains in your workspace settings. See Workspace and team. This is separate from the Do not contact list. Own-team people are skipped when added to a campaign, and they don’t show in Inbox, Home or Reports.
This check runs when someone joins a campaign. If you add a domain while someone from it is already in a running campaign, those steps carry on. Use Remove from campaign, or put them on Do not contact.
Liking or commenting on a teammate’s post is allowed.

Common questions

The Add to a campaign dialog lists every reason under why?. On Do not contact, Their company is on Do not contact and On your own team come from this page. See the rest in Add people to a campaign.
No. They stay in People with their history, and their stage doesn’t change. Their panel and page show On Do not contact.
They or their company are on Do not contact. Remove the entry first if you’re sure you should reply. Inbox refuses both new replies and saved drafts.
